Casting

Paper, resin, sunlight, string. 2017

1” x 16” x 108”

For this piece I cast a set of horizontal blinds from paper and resin and cut a hole in one of the galleries false walls to embed the blinds in. The blinds and their corresponding hole suggest porousness or permeability in the architecture and confuse the relationship between interior and exterior. The blinds cast horizontal striped shadows into the space. Many miniature horizon lines— this object's way reaching out and spreading across the floor and whatever body choose to stand in front of it— allowing a small element of the outdoors inside.
