Feeling the weight

paper, epoxy resin, fiberglass, latex paint. 2017

80" x 16" x 41"; about 1/8" thick.

Feeling the Weight is cast from the exterior of an above ground swimming pool; the type of backyard pool that has an inflatable ring at the top and a smooth bulging belly formed directly by the mass of water contained inside. Paper mache and resin were layered against the side of the pool and removed once a hard shell was formed. The object still holds the form of the weight of the water inside the swimming pool.
